End of the Week Roundup

It's Friday! I'm running out of creative ways to start these posts. Just pretend I said something witty and read on! BTW, linking up with Lauren @ Lauren Elizabeth, if you are a visitor from Lauren's page, welcome!

1. I think I potentially offended a group of local Amish women on my way to work Wednesday morning. I was driving back roads (to avoid bypass traffic) and noticed a group of girls huddled on the side of the road on their bikes. They looked lost and trust me, where I was at, they were definitely fish out of water. I drove down the road a bit of a ways debating whether I turned back or not. Part of me was saying no, leave them alone, you don't know this area very well, you won't be much use to them; and another part of me was saying, go back, you'll feel guilty the rest of the day!

So I went back and offered help, and what they needed to know I didn't know, which I should have known better (wow, that's a doozy of a sentence). So I whip out my phone and say ok maybe I can find a route you need on my phone and one of the women very politely said "we have our map, we can figure it out on our own but thank you". Facepalm.

Face. Palm.

Amish don't like technology. I'm not even sure they like dealing with "regular" people (for lack of a better term). And I totally just got all up in their business. They were really nice though, I hope they got where they needed to go safely.

And without any other random chicks accosting them on the road. Moving on...

2. My mom is super supportive, it's one of the many reasons why I adore her. Since I posted my summer checklist she has been trying to come up with ways to help me complete the list. She recently bought this:

Either because she wants to help me finish off the checklist, or she is fulfilling some deep-seeded desire of pelting the crap out of me with balloons.

3. I went to dinner with a new friend Tuesday night. We met through my friend Becca's wedding festivities. We had such a great time with our girl's night "date". We went to a local tourist "trap", it's a hotel/restaurant that is shaped like a steamboat. It's actually really neat. We had dinner first then decided to sneak through the hotel to check it all out, then we spent the rest of the night sitting on some rocking chairs talking. I stayed up way past my bedtime. If it had been a real date, it would have been the perfect date. Haha, yes I totally said that.

4. I found a local "adult night school" online that happens to be in my area. They aren't currently offering anything of interest to me yet, but I'm pretty excited about the prospect of taking random classes such as couples classes with Dave, massage, yoga, cooking, guitar...the list goes on and on. You can check out the website I found for my particular county here

I will say that one of the best things about starting this blog is that it has encouraged me to live a little, go on some adventures, and try something new.

5. As of this posting, my Taco Dip recipe has had over 60 pins/likes on Pinterest! It may not seem like a lot, but I'm over the moon about it. I have more people than family and friends seeing my blog! Whoo hoo!

That's it for this week! Have a great weekend!

Currently...

I borrowed this post idea from Living in Yellow, I thought it was a neat way to share some things about me currently. Here goes nothing!

Purchasing: My first legit maxi dress...I know, I know crazy right! I was hesitant to joint the maxi dress bandwagon (I mean come on, the name alone is a turn off for me), but wow. Comfy and cute? Yes please!

Looking forward to: Legitimately checking off items from my summer checklist (I've already been scouting drive in theaters!!!), going on my mini vacation with Dave.

Listening to: The thunderstorm that is occurring outside my house as I type this portion of the post.... Music-wise: Cups by Anna Kendrick, Next Girl by the Black Keys, Same Love by Mackelmore, The Lengths by The Black Keys, Hell on Heels by the Pistol Annies

Reading: The Cydonian Pyramid by Pete Hautman...its the second book in the Klaatu Diskos series. I had the teens read the first book The Obsidian Blade last October for the book club and they loved it. The second book just came out in May. So far, its just as good as the first book and I'm pretty sure the teens are going to love this one too.

Feeling: Hungry. Sorry nothing too deep here.

Craving: Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips...I've never had them. Why am I craving them? Because they are literally everywhere I turn. I want to try them so bad. Touché marketers...touché.

Wondering: About blog post ideas...boring I know. I have some great adventures in the works, so we will see how that pans out.

So that's me "currently"...how about you?

Summertime and the Living is Easy....

Friday was the first day of summer. Normally I'm not a summer kind of gal. I would spend my childhood summers holed up in my room reading, my pale skin is a good indicator of my lack of sunshine growing up. This year I decided I'm going to make a list of things I would like to accomplish this summer. Hopefully, posting it on here will hold me accountable, since I'm sure you all will love to hear of my adventures in completing this list.  Without further ado:

1. Go to at least two new restaurants in my area. Dave and I always go to the same chain restaurants...time to think outside the box!

2. Find out if any drive in movie theaters still exist near me and go see a movie.

3. Read a book for my own personal pleasure. I'm always reading, but now my reading time has been devoted to school books and the teen book club. *Bonus* read at least half of it outside.

4. Go on a mini vacation (this is already booked, super excited for it!)

5.  Have a water balloon fight. Why? Cause I haven't been in one in a very long time and I was always too chicken to get hit with a balloon.

6. Go mini golfing. Dave and I only mini golf when we are on vacation, and there are a few places near us that we ignore completely, its time to go putt putt!

7. Take new pictures for the blog, outside, possibly in a field or on a lake.

What is on your summer checklist?

End of the Week Roundup

Another Friday has come upon us, and for that I am grateful!

1. Becca was married Saturday, it was a perfect day for a beautiful wedding! I was lucky enough to be one of her bridesmaids and it was a huge honor to stand up there with her for the occasion. Becca and Bob's family and friends are amazing people and I've enjoyed getting to know all of them and even forming a few new friendships too.

The sunglasses were a bridesmaid gift from Becca. I'm obsessed with them!
2. While getting my makeup done for the wedding on Saturday, the woman who did it also taught me how to pose (which you can see in the picture above). Sunday, Father's Day, while goofing around, I "taught" my step-dad, Brian, how to "pose". It took a lot to keep it together for these two pics, my dad is hilarious and when we get together my mother is often left shaking her head at our antics.

3. This has to be my best photobomb ever...Do you see the resemblance?

4. This week I stopped at the fabric store and picked up some fabric for a quilt I am going to make. I can't tell you how excited I am to start quilting again, its been a very very long time.

5. I just realized I have a week to finish a 200 page book and write a six page paper....like literally just realized that as I was typing up this post. Let the panic ensue, I'm an idiot!

On that note, pray for me while you are out enjoying the summer! I'll be sitting inside and frantically finishing my homework!

I am linking up with Lauren at Lauren Elizabeth. If you are visiting me from her site, welcome! Leave a message, I'd love to hear from you and, if you have a blog of your own, check your blog out!

Dave's Thoughts on Me

I saw a post the other day by fellow blogger, Styled Like a Rockstar, where her significant other wrote down 15 things about her and her response to them. I thought it was such a great post idea, I asked Dave to do the same thing for me.

I gotta say, blog post or not, this was a fun exercise to do. It totally boosted my mood reading what Dave wrote down things about me.

1. Smart- She's smart in the sense that she knows a lot and know's what she's talking about.

I think Dave is saying in the most polite way possible that I'm a know it all...

2. Funny- She's funny in a way you can't act or try to do. It just happens sometimes when she doesn't even want to.

Ummmm....I think Dave just told you guys I'm that awkward klutz who only gets laughs when she fails. At her own expense. It's true.

3. Cute- She gives me the face to get things she wants. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Liar. It never freaking works.

4. Teacher- She's a teacher in the way she is always trying to help people understand something.

I think that goes back to the know it all thing...oh you don't know about this? Let me tell you about it until your ears bleed.

5. Cook- She is a great cook, especially when she tries.

Hmmm, pretty sure I always try when I cook. If the house hasn't burned down, I've succeeded for the day.

6. Student- She is always trying to learn something new.

So I can continue to be a know it all.

No seriously, this one was a nice one to read. I always am trying to learn knew things, broaden my horizons, be a more well rounded individual, and it's nice that he takes notice of that.

7. A good person- She is always trying to help people or animals.

Another nice one to see, although I'm sure it exasperates him when I start screaming "brake Dave!!" for the umpteenth squirrel running across the road.

8. Sexy- She does herself up to look good for me and it takes my breath away.

OK, seriously guys, we have a breakthrough here! I've never heard anything more than, "you look nice dear" or "you look pretty". Don't get me wrong those are nice to hear, but to call me breathtaking? Bazinga! Dave, I'm gonna suffocate the crap out of you the next time I dress up!

hahahahaah, I'm sorry that last line was pure gold. I went back and read what I wrote, questioned if I actually typed something that hilarious and then proceeded to laugh so hard I almost fell out of my chair. Sometimes I am awesome.

9. She's got drive.

I love that he likes this about me, but I wouldn't have half the drive I do if it weren't for his support.

10. She makes me want to better myself.

Wow, this one made me feel good. Right back at you, Dave!

11. She likes to watch me play video games.

Indeed I do. I hate playing video games, love watching them. Seriously, I made him, I mean literally forced him, to play Skyrim for 6 months straight. He finally put his foot down and stopped. It broke my Dovahkiin obsessed heart.

12. She likes the movies I do.

I am pretty sure Dave was grasping for straws at this point. He's a man of few words, we'll let him slide on this one.

13. She's got a good body.

Only cause I suck it in around him.

No seriously, I have to say I love this about Dave. He has always been consistently in love with how I look, even when I was at my heaviest. It's nice to know that he'll always find me beautiful no matter what.

14. She has nice soft lips for kissing.

Say it with me now...ewww mental image!

15. She's crazy.

You know it.

Now run home and bug your significant other to make a list of their own! Then come back and give me the highlights, I'd love to hear them!
